Dating Safety Rules
Last updated November 2026
Most people you meet online are genuine, but your safety comes first. Follow these rules in both Dating and Marriage, and read our Community Guidelines.
1. Protect your personal information
- Do not share your home address, workplace, bank details, passwords or identity documents.
- Keep conversations in the app until you trust the person. Other members only see your age and an approximate distance, never your exact location or date of birth.
- Be careful with photos that reveal where you live or work.
2. Never send money
Never send money, gift cards, cryptocurrency or "investment" funds to someone you met online, whatever the story: illness, travel, customs fees or an emergency. Asking for money is a breach of our rules — report it.
3. Watch for warning signs
- Declarations of love or marriage proposals very quickly.
- Refusing to meet or always having excuses.
- Pressure to move to another app, or to share intimate photos.
- Stories that change or do not add up.
4. Meeting in person
- Meet in a busy public place and arrange your own transport.
- Tell a friend or family member where you are going and who you are meeting.
- Stay in control of your drinks and belongings; leave if you feel uncomfortable.
- Marriage-minded members: take time to get to know the person and involve trusted family or friends before major commitments.
5. Consent and respect
Consent can be withdrawn at any time. No means no. Harassment, threats and sharing someone's private images without consent are prohibited and may be crimes under French law.
6. Report and block
Use Report on any profile or message that worries you, and Block to stop further contact and remove the match. Reports are reviewed by our moderation team; see Reporting & Complaints.
In an emergency
If you or someone else is in immediate danger, call 17 (police) or 112 (European emergency number). Victims of violence in France can call 3919 (free, anonymous). Illegal online content can be reported to PHAROS at internet-signalement.gouv.fr. Concerns about a minor: see Child Safety.
